I’d heard a ton about how great this book is so I ordered it from half.com for less than a dollar. When it arrived it was the biggest brick of a book. 1,000+ pages. I read the first page or two, but the format of the book I had was small and thick and awkward. Plus, I kept thinking “how can they write 1,000+ pages about building a cathedral? ugh!”

One day before I went to the gym I was on iTunes and noticed that the audio version of the book was on special for like $5 (marked down from about $30). The book had such great reviews. Everyone was gushing about having read/listened to it over and over, so I thought it must be good. Thing is… on audio it was 40 hours and 57 minutes long! Well, I went and bought it anyway.

And? Wow. I loved this book. It wasn’t about building a cathedral, of course. You know.. it’s an epic historical tale of war and love and politics and religions… and a cathedral is built. I found myself going on walks and stealing time away just so I could listen more to the book. Really good.
