I heard that The House on Mango Street is a great collection of short stories by Sandra Cisneros, who grew up in Chicago. To call these short stories might be too much. They’re more like mini stories, or vignettes, some only a couple paragraphs long. They’re glimpses into what it’s like to grow up Latino-American in Chicago and are told through the eyes of a child, Esperanza Cordero.
