As a teenager I was obsessed with the lyrics of popular music… and not even what they meant, but with documenting what they said. At the time there was no internet or Google to look lyrics up so I had to sit and listen to the songs and write them out on a piece of paper. I’d sit and listen line by line, pausing and rewinding, trying to get the lyrics down right. Then I’d copy the lyrics into a lyrics notebook. It had to be perfect, no crossing out. Each song had a different color of ink. At some point I then started typing out lyrics, punching them, and putting them into a binder. I don’t know when all of this started or when it stopped, but you can tell I had pretty bad taste in music.

The fact that you still have these is the most awesome part. When I was little, I used to write down every license plate number I saw, hundreds of them. I don’t know what I ever thought I was going to do with them. I think it had something to do with my secret agent/army obsession.
This is incredible. Not just the fact that you put in all the work listening, rewinding, and transcribing, but that you still have it. I don’t think I ever had this kind of patience.
that’s hilarious! and i used to watch and re-watch mtv videos and learn the dance moves!
i love love love every part of this. i still have lots of stuff like this, too. i’m so glad i’m not the only one!! YAY nostalgia and horrible music.
