Guthrie’s, Wrigleyville, Chicago

When I first moved to Chicago 5 years ago a lot of our friends were on a soccer team that was sponsored by Guthrie’s Tavern. The games were held on Saturday mornings and we’d spend all day after the games at Guthrie’s. Well, the team broke up and that habit got kind of old anyway… I’ve not spent a lot of time at Guthrie’s since then.

A couple weeks ago, Limey was guest bartending at Guthrie’s to raise money for a charity Ed is involved with, the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund. All tips were going to the benefit and the place was packed. I’m sure the scholarship fund made a lot of money that night! Dallas and I went, just for a little while, and we ended up playing our old Guthrie’s card game, Asshole, with Jen and Chad. We played at our favorite round highboy table, just past the bar. We realized while playing that we never figured out the location of the map on the table in all the years we’ve sat at it. That night someone whipped out their iPhone and ended years of mystery: Prague.
