Logan Square, Chicago
We’ve seen the ice cream truck come by on our street a fair amount already this “spring” on nicer days. Many times there’s also an old fashioned push cart with bells that goes down our street as well. If the truck or cart just goes by it’s not that bad.. but when they sit in front of the house, like they were when I took this photo, the loud ice cream truck music will drive you insane. Not to mention that you can’t hear the TV or anything. I wonder how much it will go by in the summer. There is a fire hydrant in front of our place, so I wonder if they’ll make it a regular stop.
That would stink if you had to hear the ice cream truck all summer long.
What’s a Boston shake?
I have no idea what a Boston Shake is. I tried to look it up online and it seems like it’s a shake w chocolate syrup and whipped cream? I guess I’ll have to go out there and get it one time!
In some areas in new england, when you say milkshake, you get milk, flavor and thats it. No ice cream at all. They call milkshakes as we know it as Frappes.
Does Chicago have a 311 system like NYC? I know last year we called about the Mr. Softee truck a few times and to my shock they actually responded, probably good because my mild-mannered wife started using the term “fire bomb” after the 2nd hour of that music.
I like the idea of an ice cream truck in the neighborhood… it’s something kind of old timey that a lot of neighborhoods in Chicago don’t have.. we’ll have to see how annoying the song gets.
Answer: It goes by ALOT.
Don’t know if it’s actually 311 worthy, but it probably will get on your nerves.
