Penny’s, Wicker Park, Chicago
A good thing about living on the Blue Line again, and just a few stops past where I used to live, is that we can quickly go to Wicker Park and visit the restaurants that we used to like going to when I lived in East Ukrainian Village.
Penny’s is a pan-Asian restaurant with a few locations around Chicago. We really like it and used to order food to be delivered to my old house a lot… until that one time when the delivery driver’s car got stolen. On Friday night we went to Penny’s and had huge bowls of soup. Hit the spot since we’ve both been sick and the weather is turning cold again.
Heh, I was just looking at posts I’ve made about Penny’s on rachelleb.com and came across this old one from when I took my family there. Look how young Stephanie and Jessica are!

ah, i miss wicker park. penny’s was great for cheap, fast thai take-away.

Penny’s has owned a property on Diversey (somewhere between California & Sacramento I think) for some time.
Maybe you’d could get on them about opening one in Logan Square!

Dang. I was having a Penny’s craving this weekend, but this just sealed it … I need to get me some Penny’s noodles with chicken STAT!

Steph and Jess do both look very young and I remember going there very well, so I was surprised to find out it was 4 years ago.

@steve – we used to also get zen noodles delivered a lot too.. it’s right on north, east of damen. especially after the car stealing incident and penny’s wouldn’t answer my call a few times. don’t get the sushi though. we have a rule against getting sushi at non-sushi restaurants. it’s never good.
@lynn – that would be awesome.
@tankboy – go! i got the veggie soup and we split the thai spring rolls and the shrimp salad. the salad was really good.. spicy! the veggie soup was ok.. i’d have liked more flavor in the broth. unfortch we had a clueless waiter who never came back to ask how things were. i was going to ask for some shoyu but never got the chance.
@richard – i was surprised it was that long ago too.. til i saw the photos!
