I read 31 books this year, which is 10 more than I read last year. I guess that’s what happens when you have a whole summer with nothing to do but read!

In 2006 I finished 28 books, in 2005 I read 24 books and in 2004 I read 31.

Here are all of the books I read in 2008:

    Honestly, you have impeccable taste.

I liked Yiddish Policeman’s Union but I suffer from having to compare all his work to Kavalier and Clay (which isn’t fair).

Alchemist is great but you have to be in the right frame of mind, or in a part of your life where you need allegories like that to give you that boost or inspiration.

And Understanding Comics is straight up one of my ALL-TIME favorite books! That was a bible for me when I was a teenager with comic-book artist aspirations. (So much for that one).

    Great list :)

Oh good, I read 27 and thought I was slacking. My mom claims to have read 50 this year, but of course they’re all mass market thrillers.

Joel – same thing for me.. comparing Yiddish Policemen’s Untion and Kavalier and Clay.

I didn’t really like the Alchemist, but I did really like Understanding Comics. Read that on a flight to Keystone.

Matt – that is not slacking at all! I don’t know how you could read almost the same as me when you’re busy with a couple kids and a dog!
