Update: Comments have been closed and the contest has ended as of 5 p.m. CST December 5, 2008. I will contact the winner soon. Thanks everyone for entering the contest.
A couple weeks ago Nintendo held a Wii Fit party at my house for me and 10 of my friends. We were introduced to Wii and Wii Fit and got to play while we indulged on delicious drinks and food. We made Miis, which was nerve wracking for some because you get your BMI measured and you get a Wii Fit age. My Mii looked a bit stout, but my Wii Fit age was only 35, which I didn’t think was bad since I’m 33 now. Even though my age seemed good, these games were kicking my ass.. especially the balancing ones. Apparently, I have no sense of balance, especially after 2 glasses of sangria.
The Wii Fit games are split into different categories. There are strength-training, aerobics, yoga, and balancing games. At first you only have 5 games available to you, but as you play them and advance on more games are unlocked. Eventually you have something like 30 different games to play. The games are fun and it is cool that the Wii Fit balance board also has a scale so you can tell if the program is actually working. Some games you sit, some you stand on the board in different positions, some you don’t use the board at all. In one running game Caroline put the Wii controller in her pocket and ran all over the house,
even downstairs, and it kept track of it all. After a while you could definitely feel muscle groups getting sore, so I think if you kept it up on a regular basis you’d definitely tone up.
The surprise at the end of the night was when each of my friends were presented with free Wii Fit games, balance boards, yoga mats, yoga pants and yoga jackets. It was like an Oprah moment! Rachelle’s favorite things! In addition, I also got a Wii. Awesome, I know, but I bet you’re wondering why you care. The reason is that Nintendo agreed, as part of this promotion, to let me give away a Wii and Wii fit system to one of my readers.
