River North, Chicago
My office is located right next to Merchandise Mart but if I haven’t gotten a lot of exercise in a day I’ll sometimes walk up to the Chicago/Franklin brown line stop for my commute home. I’ve been walking past the Aldo Castillo Gallery a lot and seeing these artistic faces drawn in chalk. The gallery’s building is also the one that has the mean goat and sexy mother earth murals. Last night the gallery had signs in the window that said “Store Closing Sale” but I can’t find any mention of the store closing online. Update: Clarified int he comments, Aldo Castillo Gallery isn’t closing, the store upstairs is.

Hello,
You have the signs misidentified. The “Store Closing Sale” sign belongs to the furniture gallery upstairs.
Please feel free to stop in when you like the gallery is open tues.-Sat. from 11-6pm. We also have another location in the River East Art Center the Aldo Castillo Contemporary.
Thank you:)

Ah! Good. No wonder I couldn’t find mention of it online. I wasn’t sure which floor exactly the gallery was on. Glad to hear you’re not closing. I’ll correct the post. Are you guys responsible for the chalk drawings or is it someone else in the building? I like them.
Jessica - I thought you had the same pair? I don’t wear them that much. They’re getting old.

For a moment I got scared. Aldo Castillo Gallery closing? no! this is the end of the artistic latin american world! then I kept reading. Glad they are not closing. This is one of THE best galleries in the US today for Latin American artists.
