Island Teriyaki Marinades

Island Teriyaki Marinades, Roscoe Village, Chicago

Dallas and I love Soy Vay’s Island Teriyaki marinade. For a cheap and easy meal we marinade chicken breast all day and then stir fry up some vegetables and mix them together. We get these ginormous bags of frozen stir fry vegetables at Costco. I found the Soy Vay marinade originally at Whole Foods but they’re out of it most of the time when I’m there lately. So, I tried this other Kona Coast Island Teriyaki marinade that I came across at Cost Plus World Market. It was pretty good, but I still really love Soy Vay’s Island Teriyaki. Luckily, I noticed it tucked away near the barbecue sauce the last time I was at Jewel. I need to stock up in case Jewel sells out of it too!

    Soy Vey makes some tasty sauces; and they’re Kosher.
    I haven’t had the Island Teriyaki Marinade, but Their regular Teriyaki isn’t too shabby.

    Um…and by “Soy Vey” you mean Soy Vay? It’s on the bottle.

    @Richard - I haven’t tried the regular. Maybe I will if I can’t find the Island Teriyaki.

    @me - fixed.

    I just bought two bottles (and a bottle of the Veri Veri Teriyaki), thighs are marinating, and I’m prepping baby boky choy and mushrooms for a stir-fried accompaniment. THANK YOU for the idea! (and, thank goodness I read your site regularly…and, thank God for Twitter!!!!)

    Soy Vay Island Teriyaki is great for grilling. I typically marinate chicken breasts and wings overnight in it. It’s a great flavor. My 5-year old daughter cannot get enough of it.

    Hi RB — Yes, Soy Vey makes the Veri Veri Teriyaki as well. I used the Island teriyaki — bnls/sknls chix thighs vacuum marinated for 3 hrs (i got this vacuum marinater thing — I don’t know if it actually works, but, I used it anyway!). Grilled with enough char to prevent cancer. Holy Jeebus!!!! Made a stir-fry of shitake/white mushrooms and baby bok choy, and served with jasmine rice. My 2YO niece ate ONLY the chicken, and asked for more! I’ll let you know how the VV T-Y works out!

    Oh, and I recall your mention of a visit to Mitsuwa in Arlington Heights? Well, just north of there is a grocer called Valli Produce — they carry both of these marinades for almost a dollar cheaper than Jewel…and, in great quantities! So, if you’re ever out that way, make a side trip and load up!
