Spacca Napoli, Ravenswood, Chicago
I’ve been getting together with Erin and Cinnamon for dinner every other month. It’s been great to catch up with these ladies and get to know them better while eating different dinners around North Side neighborhoods.
In June (I know! I’m so behind on posts!) we went to Spacca Napoli Pizzeria. I’d never been before and really enjoyed it. There was a bit of a wait, but Cinnamon had gotten there early to put our name in. I’d have waited anyway. I found the restaurant interior to be charming. The menu includes some antipasti and Neapolitan-style pizza made in a wood-burning oven. Classic Italian.. simple.. fresh ingredients. Delicious!
Cinnamon had been to Spacca Napoli before and recommended the Insalata di Mare, a cold seafood salad, and it was delicious. We then each ordered a pizza, but ended up sharing so we could taste them all. I had the Funghi Pizze (tomatoes, fior di latte mozzarella, basil, mushrooms, olive oil). Soooo good. Can’t wait to go back.

After moving from NYC, I was saddened to find such disgusting pizza in Chicago (*grin*) until I tried Spacca Napoli. Great pizza and excellent atmosphere.
Now if Chicago would just learn how to properly make a bagel.

Yum.
I loved going to this place when it first opened and waiting time for tables was slim. I’ve only been a couple time recently and am always pleased at how good their simple dishes are (the Zucchine Alla Scapece is fantastic).
Spacca Napoli has slowly nudged Pizza D.O.C out of the spot in my heart reserved for deliciously-tasty-stone-oven-fired pizza.
