Road Trip to Wisconsin

September 13th, 2008 · 5 Comments

Somewhere west of Oshkosh, WI(?)

Believe it or not, somewhere between our trip to Maine, our Labor Day with Dallas’ family, and starting my new job I did manage to squeeze in a 4-day road trip to Wisconsin to visit with my family and go to a preseason Packers game. I know Killian will scold me for this photo, since he was already yelling at me for texting and driving, but I had to keep occupied somehow. I’m not a good long-distance driver – just ask Sabrina, who drove with me from Wisconsin to San Diego when I moved there. The drive from Chicago to my parents’ house took about 4.5 – 5 hours. It actually wasn’t as bad as I anticipated. .. well, until my iPod battery died.

Anyway, I have loads of Wisconsin photos I haven’t gone through yet, but expect that trip to be a running theme here for a while.

Those windmills (is that even what they are called anymore?) remind me of the huge wind-power fields between Milwaukee and Fond du Lac, near Lomira, on 41. If you look to the west of the highway you can see dozens of windmills stretching out for miles. It’s incredible.

that might be where I was.. I really don’t remember! But, I do remember seeing more windmills than I’d remember seeing before.. and I don’t mean more just in that spot… but like in different areas.

Who knew Wisconsin is so progressive!

yes, the windmills are just south of fond du lac. they were my half-way marker on the drive from menomonee falls to my mom’s in new london.

Bad Girl! it is funny that windmills are considered progressive- pretty old fashioned technology considering its been done for 100s of years
