Yesterday I noticed that when I sit on the deck I can see my reflection in the door. I’ve spent a lot of time doing this: reading in the sun on our deck surrounded by flowers. It’s awesome.
Erin wondered last night if I could really comprehend the contrast in my life now and how it was a year and two years ago when I was so busy I could barely see straight. I was overwhelmed mentally and physically. And now my health mentally and physically have improved so much, I can’t even say. I’m exercising way more than I have in the past years. Mentally, I think I just needed a break. These days my big decisions are “should I get a pedicure today or tomorrow?” and “what should I have for lunch?”
I know that the Summer of Rachelle won’t last forever. Dallas pointed out yesterday when I was whining about some possible work, that it’s not the Life of Rachelle, just the Summer. I know that, so I’m just trying to enjoy each moment of what’s left.
Do your thing girl! About six months ago I quit my full time job to pursue freelance and work from home — I’m a graphic designer in Brooklyn — and my life has drastically improved, and yes, I exercise and eat sooooo much better. Hope you have an amazing summer just chillaxin!
sweet~! must be nice~! enjoy~!
How is that book? I picked it up today because I loved the typography and color on the cover. I’m so silly!
Is that a Cubs shirt you’re wearing? Traitor!
thanks guys! lori – the book is great actually. I am just about done with it and when I am I’ll post my thoughts here.
and, it is a cubs shirt. we never watched baseball growing up, that i can remember.. maybe you can remember? i’ve been to a few brewers games at the old stadium and everywhere i’ve lived i’ve been to games… but i’ve been to more cubs games than any other team. this year i’ve been to 3 cubs games already so i decided i should get a shirt.
What a coincidence – I just started reading that book last Friday. I’m only ~70pp into it but so far I’m liking it. Way more enjoyable than “Gentlemen of the Road”, the last book of his that I very laboriously read through.
Curious to see what your final thoughts are on it!
p.s. wicked jealous of your summer plans … or lack thereof, ha.
Summer Vacation? How cool. I don’t know a single “adult” that wouldn’t trade places with you in an instant.
Enjoy.
You look gorgeous in this picture!
