Be By Baby Window Display

Be By Baby, Lakeview, Chicago

I have nothing against breast feeding at all, but Be By Baby, a store I walk past all the time, always has these displays where they show off their cool breastfeeding clothes by having a smaller, child-sized mannequin standing up in a breastfeeding position. I don’t know why, but they always creep me out. I think it’s the kid mannequin standing up part that I find unsettling. .. not that I’d tell anyone how long to breast feed their kid, but. .. maybe I should just stop now.

Um yeah, I’m with ya. 6 mos was enough for me. When the kid can walk up to you and ask for the breast… well, I just think there’s no benefit over good ole cow’s milk.

exclusively breastfeeding your child for at least 6 months ensure you are giving you child the best possible start to life. the protection your milk provides cannot and has never been replicated by formula or any other product. Breastfeeding can reduce the chance of developing lukemia and allergies, and diseases like gluten intolerance! It’s amazing stuff. While it shouldnt be discouraged, I think people who breastfeed their children when they are 3 and 4 years old do damage to the breastfeeding culture, because we are still adjusting to a new culture - where once before breastfeeding in public was shunned, it is now encouraged. but it’s going to take time and effort on everyones part to help reinforce the idea that breastfeeding is best, and denying your child breastmilk in the first 6 months for selfish reasons should be looked upon as the wrong thing to do…

heheh sorry, i tend to get a bit excited about this.
