Taking Chris Out For Drinks

ChrisLast night we took Chris out for drinks at his favorite downtown dive Rossi. I’d only ever been to Rossi to drag Chris or Alden out of the place. It’s so small that it reeked so bad of smoke all the time.. even if you just walked in and out. But now, with the smoking ban, it’s much more enjoyable. Especially when we ordered 4 beers and a soda and it was only $10.

Also, our bartender looked like he was a guest on Headbanger’s Ball and kind of scared me, but then I grew to like him. He came over to clear empties from our table and throw them away in the garbage can right behind us and I apologized because I didn’t realize the garbage was within arm’s length. The headbanging bartender was all “Oh, no problem. We’re glad to have you guys here!” So nice.

After drinks, some of us went to dinner at Harry Caray’s. It’s like the most touristy place with all business travelers, but the weather was horrible (below zero with gusts of wind and tons of snow) and the restaurant was close and the food actually was good. I had jumbo sea scallops with proscuitto di parma, roasted red pepper coulis and pesto. Think bacon-wrapped scallops, but fancier.

Good luck to Chris in the future. I’m sure we’ll see him around, but we’ll miss having him in the office!
