It’s kind of a “must” now to post these each year. I like to see how I’ve changed year to year. What I remember last year when I took this photo was that I was completely stressed out to the point of knowing something was gonna break but not knowing what, which is even more stressful. I think you can see it in my eyes. It ended up manifesting itself physically with a bunch of repetitive stress problems, a pinched nerve and an eye tick that went on for months. That was a big warning sign for me. It was difficult for me to let things go this year, but I did. I’ve been trying to take better care of myself mentally and I think it’s helped a lot. I kind of got off course physically, but plan to get on better track with that in the upcoming year. Merry Christmas, everyone!

hello from France Rachelle, very good idea to make a portrait of you each year for christmas, i’ll make the same thing now ! I always look with pleasure yours photos in my mail since several years, my first remenber about all yours pictures is a lot of delicous foods (in appearance) and simple happy people of differents origins (a lot are your friend i think). It’s a very special view of your country that you show here, in France the cliche about american life and american people is “not good food” and “people just interest by money and that think are the kings of the world”, of course is the cliche. Since the start of 2007 i have a new hobby, the photo, i bought a film camera. I still must to develop a lot of my negative, i’ve just 6 or 7 picture on my ipernity page in the web…. it’s a pure pleasure this hobbie ! On your portrait of 2002 think you make me feel at one photo of Nicole Kidman (now you smile i’m sure) yes… really…. this Malicious gaze… and on this one of 2007 you have a lot of charm ! Me, on my 2007 portrait, i’m like you in 2006… tired eh eh ! It’s the life, the years to follow but they aren’t the same, good end of 2007 and good continuation for 2008 charming Rachelle.

@Joc- When I took the photo in 2000 I wasn’t thinking I’d make it a tradition. I was celebrating Christmas at the Hotel Del on Coronado “island” in San Diego.. my only Christmas away from home.. and I think I wore the hat just to try to have some holiday spirit and not just be drinking margaritas at sunset on the beach like any other day that I lived there. Then in 2002 I randomly brought the hat to work (in NY) and took a photo. In 2003, I think, was when I finally decided to do it every year.
I got the personalized hat from Neighborhoodies and got one for each of my nieces. All of our names are too long and they wrap all the way around our heads!
@Jeannette - It’s mostly fixed itself. It was the worst early in the year. Trying my hardest not to go back there!
