Lemon Cheese Pressed Cookies

I made these cookies for my cookie party.

From: cooks.com

1 c. butter, softened
1 pkg. (3 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. grated lemon peel
1 tbsp. lemon juice
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder

Cream butter, cheese and sugar until fluffy. Blend in remaining ingredients, cover and chill 1 hour. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Fill cookie press with dough, form into desired shapes on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly brown. Makes about 5 dozen 2 inch cookies.

If you want the dough colored, add the food coloring before chilling the dough. Also, experiement with how long to chill the dough. I found the dough getting too hard to go through the press sometimes.
