The series where he got a tattoo from a native of Indonesia is one of the most interesting episode that I like from his show.

2 - @Emma: Earlier this year Bourdain wrote a guest piece on Ruhlman's blog detailing what he thought about the biggest Food Network stars. Great read: http://blog.ruhlman.com/ruhlmancom/2007/02/guest_blogging_.html

Complain all you want. It’s like railing against the pounding surf. She only grows stronger and more powerful. Her ear-shattering tones louder and louder. We KNOW she can’t cook. She shrewdly tells us so. So...what is she selling us? Really? She’s selling us satisfaction, the smug reassurance that mediocrity is quite enough. She’s a friendly, familiar face who appears regularly on our screens to tell us that “Even your dumb, lazy ass can cook this!” Wallowing in your own crapulence on your Cheeto-littered couch you watch her and think, “Hell…I could do that. I ain’t gonna…but I could--if I wanted! Now where’s my damn jug a Diet Pepsi?”

good points.. he did also say that when cooking he's in the pleasure business.. he's not your dietitian, he doesn't care about where things come from (although he does think organic and local movements are good), he's not concerned with nutrition and calories, but he is in the business of giving you as much pleasure from a meal as possible.

Anthony Bourdain rocks! Good is good and bad is bad; that is the message he consistently preaches and I couldn't agree more. A $1 hot dog and $100 truffle (or warthog anus) can be equally pleasing and tasty as long as they are prepared correctly. Growing up surrounded by good food and instruction (brother-French/Japanese chef, father-sushi chef and not to shabby mom) I've increased my waistline as well as my knowledge and appreciation of the world's cuisine. I love Anthony's work and hope he keeps cranking out those books and t.v episodes. My only regret is I didn't get to try his cooking before he left Brasserie Les Halles.
P.S. - When is he coming to Chicago?!
