Don’t Let This Happen

These fliers were passed out yesterday morning at all the El stops. Yesterday the CTA was offered a bailout, but it hasn’t gone through yet. The CTA is such a screwed up organization. Every year the CTA cries wolf and every year just a couple days before doomsday they get bailed out. Maybe all these services should get cut and fares should rise. Not that I want to pay more for less, but maybe someone would finally fix something then.

I think the state of funding (schools to infrastructure to public transportation) in this country is more to blame. While the CTA has its share of problems and cannot be absolved from this crisis, it seems like money collected from taxpayers is not always used in the right places. We have spent over $400,000,000,000 (400 billion) in Iraq for the war and re-building their infrastructure, which works out to over $1,300 per person in the U.S. Seems like we could use some of the 400 billion over here for some things. Check out costofwar.com to see what the money could have bought in the U.S.

Told you buying a bicycle would be a good investment. Now you need to take a winter riding course.
