St. Andrew Parish, Lakeview, Chicago

I spotted these statues outside St. Andrew Parish on Paulina and Addison when I was out walking one sunny day. A woman came out of the buildings next to the church and asked me if I got the shot. She told me a bit about each statue, who they are, what the things in their hands symbolize and so on. I think she was maybe a nun or someone else affiliated with the parish.

The stories are a fun thing about traditional european architecture. I think St. Peter is the one with the key and the book. The rock upon which the church is built, the keeper of the gate to heaven. Who were the others?

Where did the flare come from in St Pete’s shot? It doesn’t look like the sun was too bright at the time.
