After Ehukai Beach, we went to Waimea Bay Beach Park. We tried to go there before Ehukai but there was no parking available. Some film crews were taking up a bunch of parking spots, making it hard for everyone else. There still were no spots, so we parked up the road and then just walked down. Dallas body surfed a lot at Waimea Bay and I laid on the beach and read a book and just relaxed. Dallas said the surf wasn’t that big, and I didn’t think it was that bad until I realized that Waimea Bay is where they hold the Quiksilver Big Wave Invitational, that when “surf’s up” waves can often reach more than 30 feet tall, and that some say that Waimea Bay has the largest, most dangerous, spectacular surf in the world.
One other cool tidbit about Waimea Bay - it’s one of the filming locations used in Lost.
