
Does anyone know what this is? Just wondering. We saw it when hiking Kalalau. I guess it’s just some sort of fruit that grows on some sort of palm.
Update: We were thinking maybe it’s a young pineapple? But I don’t think it was on the ground.. or a breadfruit? But the foliage doesn’t look right for breadfruit.

The mystery fruit is a young pineapple.
Your grandfather in Fla grew them under the orchid tree in his back yard.
Bread fruit grows in a tree we tryed it when me and your mother was there.

It looks like a Hala Tree. The leaves is used for weaving mats, hats, baskets pretty much what you can weave. The fruit looking thing in the middle was used in Kamehameha time as a paint brush. I hope this helps.
