Does anyone know what this is? Just wondering. We saw it when hiking Kalalau. I guess it’s just some sort of fruit that grows on some sort of palm.
Update: We were thinking maybe it’s a young pineapple? But I don’t think it was on the ground.. or a breadfruit? But the foliage doesn’t look right for breadfruit.
No idea… not english!
Hi R, been keeping tabs on your site, great site. always nice to know what you ‘dudes’ are up too
Kind regards
Jeremy
The mystery fruit is a young pineapple.
Your grandfather in Fla grew them under the orchid tree in his back yard.
Bread fruit grows in a tree we tryed it when me and your mother was there.
See you Sat

It looks like a Hala Tree. The leaves is used for weaving mats, hats, baskets pretty much what you can weave. The fruit looking thing in the middle was used in Kamehameha time as a paint brush. I hope this helps.
