Somehow we hauled our butts off our lounge chairs in time to go watch the sunset at our condo. There’s a small path that leads to the shore and there’s a nice little bench there and you can sit and watch the sun quietly set. Except for some reason this year there were tons of people down there every night. And at the property next to ours too. So much for having a romantic view with my girls Allison and Susan. Ha!

There was a guy we called “Big Mouth Know It All” who I believe was from the East Coast but spent a lot of time in Kaua’i and stayed/half lived at our condo complex. He was always at the pool talking loud about stuff about Hawaii. It was driving Dallas crazy because I don’t think he was always right. Plus, he tried to inform us tourists about secret local things to do and we’d already done them. Lame! Did I mention he talked really loud? All day? When we were trying to relax? So annoying! I avoided him like crazy. I really couldn’t stand this guy.

Anyway, he was there watching the sunset with his whole family - his kids, wife, parents, etc. When Susan and Allison and I were done watching the sun set, we turned to leave and he had to lecture us about how we had to stay and see the “green flash.” Now, I know all about the green flash from when I lived in San Diego and there was even a restaurant at the end of my block on the ocean called Green Flash. I didn’t need to hear anything this guy was saying. But we stayed just to appease him. One more pina colada and I think I would have turned and left. Let me tell you this: There was no green flash but when it should have happened, Big Mouth Know It All screamed something like “Yeh” or “Booyah” or something obnoxious and everyone cheered. Whatever, at least we were free to leave and go back to the pool!
