Makahuena, Poipu, Kaua’i
By now the Makahuena is like our home away from home in Poipu, Kaua’i. This was my third time staying there and Dallas has stayed there at least twice as many times as me. It’s nice to get to know the South Shore and Poipu and Koloa Town so well and have it as a home base every time.
This year we had a lot of people so we got two condos. The one I stayed in was 3 levels, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, with a great kitchen (stainless steel appliances and marble countertops) and living room area. The other condo was a a little less homey and less nicely furnished and decorated, but it was huge. The living area was about double as big as ours and it was right on the oceanside. But it was also under construction on the outside, which made it noisy. That condo was 2 bedrooms. The rates on each condo were more than we’ve paid in the past, but still only about half of what everyone else pays and when you split it all up, it’s megacheap.
