Helicopter Tour in Kauai

February 6th, 2007 · 4 Comments

2007_02_Mosley_selleck.jpgI’m thinking of things to do while I’m in Kauai.. I mean, when I’m not laying on the beach or at the pool or in the jacuzzi with a foofy vodka drink in my hand. I’ve been to Kauai twice so far and I think that this time I might want to take a helicopter tour, since I’ve never done it before. Usually when I want to do something I just ask Dallas what is the best place to go, since he grew up on Kauai, but most locals think that taking the helicopter ride is a good way to die, so he doesn’t know much about it. I know there are people who read this site who have been to Hawaii and even Kauai and have taken helicopter tours and have obviously come back alive, so tell me how your tour was, and more importantly, who it was with. I have a feeling most of the tours are the same, but I’d like to go with the helicopter company that makes you feel the least like you’re going to die.

And, oh how I wish that TC was giving tours! We have been watching Magnum PI like crazy ever since we discovered the Sleuth channel on Direct TV.

When we went there, we took the helicopter ride over Kauai. In my life, it was the sole greatest thing I’ve seen. It re-defined beauty and wonder. It makes you stop breathing. Not out of fear, but because it’s so boundless in it’s beauty. You come away feeling small and insignificant, to think we have heaven here on earth.

I am a helicopter pilot in the Gulf of Mexico and I have been flying since 1965. I have also visited Kauai twice a took a ride with Will Squires Helicopters. All the companies are regulated very closely by the FAA and the news people. If there had been any problems they would be in the news. Its like driving on a busy road anything can happen but when you have equiptment controlled very closely but the FAA and records watched very closely by the news how much more can you ask. In 40 years of flying I have never seen anything more memorable. The Nei Pali (sp?) Coast can only be seen from the air or a boat. The helicopter lets you see more in a much shorter time and I promise you will never forget it. If you have anymore questions please feel free to email me.
