I saw these marble magnets on not martha a couple years ago and always wanted to make them. The past few years I’ve made handmade Christmas cards with holiday-themed photographs that I’ve taken, but this year I just didn’t have the time. Some how I did steal away time to make these magnets. Even if I was up past midnight on Christmas Eve Eve finishing them up! I think they were appreciated as Christmas gifts so it makes it worth it.
How small do you have to shrink the pics to make them work? I don’t think i have any pics that small….
those are kind of creepy!!
I love mine Shell. They were one of my favorite gifts. I squealed with glee when I opened the gift. I will treasure them always. The things you make are always incredible. These magnets are SO cool!!
i love riley’s as well. i don’t let her play with it like i did at your place. it’s nicely placed high up on my fridge.
stacy, just go to notmartha.com and you can find the instructions there. i did that, but haven’t had the time to buy the stuff and make them. honestly, i just couldn’t find “silicone sealer” at michael’s. i’m going to have to go to hardware store or something.
i have 1-inch plastics so i had to shrink the photos down to 1 inch. I couldn’t find silicone sealer either.. I bought a few different kinds of glue online then experimented with them.. hint: some of them don’t dry well and since people were the theme of my magnets, it looked like they were diseased. you have to get something that’s not going to dry with bubbles or anything.
glad you guys liked them!
also frustrating was that sometimes i’d glue the photo on and it looked fine, but if i used a certain kind of glue or too much of it to put the magnet on then it would like blur out the photo. this happened on the ones i gave kelly and jeff… i ended up hotgluing the magnets on the back of the rest.. seemed to work. but the glue on the front of the photo through the plastic is the trickiest. i also experimented with different kinds of paper. copy paper vs photo paper, etc.
Cool idea….Rachelle is very cute too.
so, what did you end up using for glue?
Evacuation Route?
You can get silicone sealant at any hardware or home improvement store.
That was the Tsunami Evacuation Route in Washington. see here.
Try using 5 minute epoxy, cures (drys) fast and has a sweet smell to it.
