I must have walked past this building on Randolph/Franklin 100 times in the spring and summer before I noticed the elephant ornamentation on it and took photos.
There was a fire in the building about five or six years ago resulting in what was left of the original facade being damaged, and now replaced with stucco. Before the fire, there was a different sign for the “Showmans League”. The elephants were added with the new facade.
Haven’t been there in several years, but Harry’s on the corner served up a pretty authentic Chicago Dog. Harry, who has to be in his 80s, was still working the counter last I heard.
