A couple weeks ago, Allison, Jen and I were craving Indian food so we went up to the Indian neighborhood in Chicago, which is on Devon Avenue on the far north side. We ate at Ghandi India, which was a good, no-frills place that was recommended to us by a coworker of Allison’s who is married to someone Indian and who recommended it to us. What I want to post about though, is Patel Brothers, a supermarket we went to before getting dinner at Ghandi India.
If you’re thinking about cooking Indian food, this is the place to go. There are aisles and aisles stocked floor to ceiling with Indian spices, rices, lentels, snacks and anything you might need. Of course, I was thrilled with the unique flavors of Lays potato chips! Tomato Tango and Magic Masala tasted exactly how they sound - tangy tomatos and a spicy masala on chips.

Intriguing! Are the potato chips imported, or do we just (as usual) not have them in Hawai’i yet?

Yup, the chips are imported and it’s Gandhi, not Ghandi! Next time, try Sabri Nihari, also on Devon.

Cool pics! The guy pictured on the bag of chips is a famous Indian actor, Saif Ali Khan, who has starred in many Bollywood films.
