Last night I took these photos as I was walking through Daley Plaza on the way to somewhere else. Everything is all decorated for Halloween. I’m sure by tomorrow the holiday tree will be up!

Last weekend I was walking my granny cart to Trader Joe’s when I passed through the Roscoe Village Halloween Parade, which was less “parade” and more like a bunch of people with their dogs and babies dressed up and going trick or treating at local businesses. The weather this weekend was perfect. Chilly but sunny, crisp air, with the scent of autumn leaves. If there’s anything Roscoe Village has an abundance of it’s babies and dogs, so this was a popular event. It seemed like a really fun safe way to celebrate the holiday and all of the local businesses seemed really happy to participate. Everyone was having a great time. Except maybe the Elmo kid who was sleeping through it all.

No, this isn’t any sort of Halloween celebration. This weekend one night we were going to go to The Village Tap for dinner and a beer or two. Nothing big. Just someplace close-by. Turned out Cory and Danny wanted to come too, so the met us there. Then Cousin called us and was out at Brauhaus so we grabbed Chad, who also lives nearby, and we met Cousin and Kristin there. I’d never been there before. It was some kind of German crazy house. Tables packed row after row, people wearing strange hats, a German band and German dancers with audience involvement, and the biggest beers I’ve ever seen. It would be cool to go back, but that night it was just too much and too crowded. We ended up at Wild Goose for dinner and drinks and to watch St. Louis win the World Series. And ended up staying out til 1am. So much for a quiet night! Still, I had fun. I’ve had a sore throat for a couple days, though, and at first I was just blaming it on the smokey bar, but now I don’t know..

On Thursday night most of the Chicagoist staff met up at Piece for pizza and beers. Except I somehow managed to stick to salad and diet soda (whoo hoo for my diet!). It’s always fun to get everyone together and remind each other that we’re real people behind all the emails and forum posts and site posts. We also got to meet 6 of the 8 newest contributors, which was really cool.

I have quite a backload of photographs and posts that I just haven’t had time to go through and do anything with. So, sorry for the lateness!

Two Thursdays ago, FeedBurner had a party for clients and potential clients at Carnivale. It was really fun and less awkward than we’d joked about, you know, with 15 engineers who like to stare at their shoes at parties in attendance. I’ve never had dinner at Carnivale, but I’ve been to a couple parties there and the food, drinks and service have always been fantastic. Here are some more photos from that night.
