Allergy Test, Magnificent Mile, Chicago
I gave the allergist that Ray recommended a try yesterday. He was pretty cool. I went in told him what the deal was (ragweed season is upon us), he gave me 26 quick pokes to confirm, let it sit for 10 - 15 minutes*, wrote me 3 prescriptions and I was outta there. I was trying to be proactive. My allergy symptoms haven’t been too bad, but yesterday, MAN! Maybe it was because I was pricked with everything, but I was sneezing like crazy and blowing my nose. My eyes hurt and were so itchy. This morning I woke up with crusty eye boogers. YUM! Can’t wait to pick those prescriptions up today!
* This photo was taken after only a couple minutes. Most of the dots were tree pollen and didn’t do anything, but the two that were types of ragweed and the one that was cats got really huge and red and itched like crazy. They stayed that way until late into the afternoon yesterday, grossing everyone out at work.

Ew, that happened to me too! I was at the allergist the other day and broke out in major hivage from dust mites, ragweed, pollens, grasses, trees, cats, dogs, and “cockroach matter.”

Sounds like you had a positive experience (to say the least, by the looks of your arm!). Did you pick up your meds yet? Remember, hopefully taking them right away will clear up any symptoms…but, usually, it takes a full 12-24 hour cycle to really let them kick in.
I feel you….I got back to Chicago from the east coast, and I thought my head was going to explode! Good luck, Rachelle!

I got my prescriptions.. wow, those eye drops are expensive. Over $100. And my insurance only covered half. Then I also got the generic Allegra and nasal spray. i used the eye drops right away on the el platform. what a releif!

I did one fo these when I was really young, but I get tested for over 100 different things (it may not have been 100 actually, but it was alot) I had those things all over my back, and it was terrible. I don’t think I have seen a doctor for allergies since childhood. Flonase works really well for allergies btw.

Yikes…..$100 eye drops? Did Maribelle at least offer you some samples? They are pretty good about giving out samples. If you are taking Allegra, and it works, then continue with that. I have a combo of Singulair (sp?) and Zyrtec, and that seems to do the trick. But, if you can get away with generics or OTCs, that’s much better. I hope that you are feeling better!
