Mushaboom

feist.jpgI have been listing to Mushaboom by Feist over and over and over for months. I have no idea where I got the original mp3*, but then one day in the office someone was playing SomaFM and I was like “Who is that singing?” and they said “Feist” so I pulled up my original mp3 and the repetition began. Along the way I also picked up this live set of mp3s from when Feist played Park West in Chicago. And somehow I got a Mocky Remix version of Mushaboom (?). I like all the version and just keep listening to them on repeat. I should also mention that the other songs in that live set are very good as well. I’d love to see her live now.

* This happens to me all the time. I go to a few sites every day that always have links to mp3s, or I’ll get some music from people I know, or I’ll pick up the free stuff each week at the iTunes music store. They all get added to my iTunes library, which is getting close to 7,000 songs, and go into rotation. Then at some point I’ll suddenly know a song and an artist that I didn’t even realize I knew and I’ll have no idea how I was even introduced. Another thing that happens is someone will tell me “Hey, this band XXX is good, you should check them out!” and I’ll be like “Cool! I never heard of them!” then I’ll do a search on my iTunes and realize I’ve had some of their stuff for like months already. Oh well, I’m not complianing about having a lot of music, maybe just about having a bad memory.

Back to Mushaboom….

Mushaboom

Helping the kids out of their coats
But wait the babies haven’t been born
Unpacking the bags and setting up
And planting lilacs and buttercups

But in the meantime I’ve got it hard
Second floor living without a yard
It may be years until the day
My dreams will match up with my pay

Old dirt road, knee deep snow
Watching the fire as we grow old

I got a man to stick it out
And make a home from a rented house
And we’ll collect the moments one by one
I guess that’s how the future’s done

How many acres, how much light
Tucked in the woods and out of sight
Talk to the neighbours and tip my cap
On a little road barely on the map

Old dirt road, knee deep snow
Watching the fire as we grow old
Old dirt road rambling rose
Watching the fire as we grow
Well I’m sold

I went through a similar Mushabloom phase for a few months - I originally found the mp3 on stereogum. What a cool song.

Awesome - she’s playing a free show in Central Park for Canada Day (yup, Canada Day… in NYC)

Now you have me. I heard Feist on Sound Opinions a while back and you’ve sold me.

You must have downloaded the single from Office, ‘Wound Up.’ I’ve had their album, ‘Q&A’ repeating from time to time in my iTunes library.

She’s great. I was at that Park West show, and she was great - super fun mood (although the crowd was really weird).

    Secret Heart is da bomb.

This song is simply the business, I must agree. The entire album is great.
