Mayor Daley, Streeterville, Chicago

Last night Joanna and I attended a party to celebrate Chicago Gateway Green’s 20th birthday. There was tons of great food from local restaurants and lots of free booze too. The special guest was Mayor Daley. It was the first time I’ve seen him for real, live and up close. My first thought when he walked out: “Man, he’s short!”

More on Gateway Green, the party, and Daley’s speech is on Chicagoist.

Actually, worms like this that come out after the rain don’t really gross me out. Earthworms are fine with me. I remember my parents said that when I was a little kid and I was helping my dad garden I’d always put worms in my pockets and they wouldn’t find them until they were emptying out my pockets to do the laundry. It’s like a new wardrobe now.

It hasn’t been since December that I’ve walked past the Sun Times Destruction/Trump Tower Construction site on a daily basis. And it hasnt been since November that I posted an update on it. I used to go by every day, most times twice/day, and was able to notice each little step in the building that was accomplished. This weekend I went by and it’s just like shot up, past ground level and everything. I know the building’s got a long way to go and that it’s going to grow so much taller, but it was amazing to me to see how big it was already!

Check here to see all of my photos of the Sun Times building as it was torn down and the Trump Tower as it was constructed.
