Recently I saw posts on Gothamist and Slice about Google Trends, so I decided to try it out for myself. I put in some random terms and messed around with the results. Then I put in my name, just to see what would come up. Seems my first name is pretty popular in the Philippines and in the Tagalog language.

That’s neat, Shell. I did Tessa’s and hers was interesting. The U.S. didn’t even register in the top 10! Neat find.

mom, not searching for me. searching for the term “rachelle”. this is a tool that shows trends based on google’s history. you can look up anything - pizza, tessa, manhattan, any word, or combination of words.
but since the most people searching for “rachelle” were from the philippines, it made me wonder if that’s a popular name there. tagalog is the language spoken there.

I’m from the Philippines and I can’t explain why Rachelle is being searched for at all.

Ooh, I had to look this up. Rachelle Ann Go is a popular singer in the Philippines. She won the Philippine version of American Idol a couple of years ago and has had several hit songs. The whole story is at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rachelle_Ann_Go
