The building is Hotel St. Benedict Flats. It is a Chicago landmark, so it would be difficult to get torn down. Here's some more info on the building, http://www.ci.chi.il.us/Landmarks/H/HotelStBenedict.html

Those are some of my favorite old buildings in the city. Before I moved here, they were one of my “landmarks.” I always knew where I was when I could find the Jimmy John’s.

I’ve always been concerned that it’s just a matter of time before they’re “redeveloped” to resemble that vanity mirror of a project across the street at Loyola. I suspect it still is.
