A Happy Mac Family

When I started working at FeedBurner they hooked me up with a lightening fast 15″ MacBook Pro (pictured on the right here next to my dirty* iBook). It’s sweet. My only complaint is that it gets REALLY hot, like you can barely touch the strip of metal above the F keys. And when I unplug it and take it home it’s like carrying a portable heater in my backpack while waiting for the bus in 90 degree heat. I think it will be nice in the winter though! It sure beats the Dell & IBM laptops I had at my last job!

*Does everyone’s white iBook get this dirty or are my hands particularly filthy?

Wednesday Night: Wine at Avec. Thursday Night: Chicagoist Staff Happy Hour. Friday Night: Gapers Block Party. Saturday Night: Barbecue/Housewarming at Darren & Cory’s new place. Sunday Night: Dinner & Drinks at Riverview. Luckily, I didn’t get drunk every night, I took it easy. Otherwise, I’d be in rough shape right now. Instead it was a great weekend. And hot, did I mention HOT?

Riverview is pretty much right across the street from Danny & Lori’s so we’ve been known to frequent it regularly. It’s named after the old amusement park that was in operation from the late 1800s to the late 1960s and was located not to far from where the bar is now. Inside are lots of photographs and signs from the old park. It’s cool. Good drink specials ($3 Goose Island Summertime last night) and good food.

Gapers Block turned 3 and had a big party at The Hideout on Friday night. Justin, Erin, Scott and I went to check it out. It was fun and the band, Canasta, was great. They get bonus points for having a slide trombone and a violin in their rock band.
