Jess discovered this great restaurant in The Village called Alta. They specialize in small plates and lean towards Spanish and Mediterranean cuisines, although we had a bit of everything. For 4 people, this is what we had:
- Lots of sangria
- Bacon wrapped dates, olives & almonds
- Fried goat cheese with lavendar infused honey
- Paprika-potato gratin, Oloroso carmelized onions, piquillo, Manchego
- Carpaccio of Beef, horseradish crème fraîche foam, blood orange supremes
- Ricotta Gnocchi, Porcini emulsion, truffled young pecorino, piquillo pepper
- Danish Pork Ribs roasted with kecap manis & coriander
- Terrine of Foie Gras, Rhubarb chutney, toasted brioche
- Confit of spice-brined duck leg, apple-butter cream
- Skirt steak, Chimichurri, salt-baked & fried fingerling potato with lebne
- Butter braised leek risotto, bacon, lemon juice & white truffle cream
- Dark chocolate fondue with biscotti
- Rice Krispie treats with peanuts, crème fraîche, dusted with cocoa
Dinner was fabulous. I’d recommend Alta to anyone going out in NY looking for a nice place to have dinner.
Afterwards we stopped in The Belgian Beer Bar, but it was packed to we went to Boxers and had a couple drinks.
