Dallas was teasing because the only kinds of beef stroganoff I’d had were the Hamburger Helper kind when I was a kid and the Healthy Choice entree as an adult. So, I decided to make this beef stroganoff with sirloin steak. It tasted even better the second day.

Melting Snow, East Ukrainian Village, Chicago

This snow is not going to last through the day. Yesterday was cold and snowing from about 1pm – 11pm but today is sunny and warm. I walked over to Milk & Honey for lunch (thank gawd the crabcake sandwich is back!) and the snow is falling from the buildings and trees every second like mini slushbombs.

$159? I’ll Give You 30 Bucks

January 20th, 2006 · 7 Comments

new_outfit.jpgI saw this Anne Klein courdoroy jacket at Nordstrom. It was $159 marked down to $57, which was still a little steep, but I’d been looking around for a cute jacket for a while and I really liked it. And the saleswoman was freaking out about how great the jacket was and how much it was on sale. So, I tried it on and it looked great, except it was a little big. Since it was marked down so much they didn’t have many sizes left and my size wasn’t available. Whatever, I really liked it, but I didn’t have to have it. Or, so I told myself.

I wandered around and later on in the day I ended up at Marshall Field’s. I was looking for a shirt to go with these gray pants I had. I was digging through a sale rack and there it was, the jacket! And in my size! So I rushed to the dressing room and tried it on. It fit great but then I looked at the tag: $95?? Dang! I finally gave up realizing that it wasn’t meant to be. I went upstairs and was looking at some jeans and accidentally wandered into the petite section. I’m not too tall, but at the high-end of the petite scale, so sometimes I can get away with petite and sometimes I can’t. I found the jacket in the petite section and it was only $31. Of course, I had to get it. I got one size larger than I would get in the regular section and it fit pretty much the same. Score!

Can you tell I’ve been watching What Not To Wear a lot? I could be one of their mannequins, I’ve followed Stacy & Clinton’s rules so well.

I wonder if Preston wrote this himself to go with the 1,000 other placed he tagged his name in Wicker Park & Ukrainian Village. It kind of looks like his writing.
