Long gone is the wooden walkway that was constructed in February to get over Kinzie Street when Wabash Ave was ripped open. The sidewalk is complete. I can’t say I’ll really miss that wooden platform. It was just a place for graffiti and homeless beggers to gather.. and for me to slip and fall.. which I did several times. The only good thing was that because it was elevated it offered a good view of the construction going on. Now, with Wabash Avenue close to complete, the real action is going on “across the street.”

From the Michigan Avenue bridge (bottom photo) you can see what looks like a couple stories of building. Maybe I’ll have to switch up my walk to work so I can get this view more often.

btw, if you Google “trump construction” this site is #1.

I was just telling my boyfriend, Looper, about the sidewalk reopening this morning. When they took the walkway down over the weekend, there were signs saying there was no pedestrian access up Wabash at all, and I had thought this was going to continue until November when the whole street reopened. Glad to see I was wrong. One insteresting thing about IBM Plaza, it’s got to be the only plaza in downtown where the security people actually come out and shoo away the skateboarders. It’s a trick I wish they’d teach to the security personnel at Daley Plaza. This, I fear, may not continue once traffic returns to the Avenue.
