New Restaurant, Wicker Park, Chicago

This building on the corner of Ashland and Division has been an old, yellow, shut down, Mexican restaurant for as long as I have lived in Chicago. Now someone is putting a lot into it to restore the building. Does anyone know what it’s gonna be? I’m super excited, hoping it’s a good restaurant, preferably with take-out, since I walk through this intersection twice/day going to and coming off of the Blue Line.

Ragstock is pretty new to Milwaukee Avenue. I like the quirky signs they put outside.

I just saw that new facade this weekend on the way to Dusty Groove, and I wondered the same thing.

It was only a matter of time, I guess…

actually this corner is a good representative slice of the neighborhood right now.

the building on the corner is getting rehabbed, to its left on division is a swank danceclub, next to that is a homey polish restaurant, to the left of that is a place to getcher checks cashed and then there’s a small theater. to the right of the building under construction is one of the three la pasadita mexican restaurants.

I heard it’s going to be a Washington Mutual bank, which I guess makes sense since three other bank seem to have a branch at that intersection.
