Marshall Field’s Dressing Room, The Loop, Chicago
Trying on bathing suits is torture for most girls I know.. and tonight was no different for me. I tried on bathing suits for over 2 hours before I found one that I liked and that fit me well. It’s the one on the right – from the Quicksilver Leilani line, also seen here and here. And luckily it was on sale too!
The last time I had to buy a bathing suit was out of pure necessity. Last year I was spending 4th of July in Mass. and my luggage got lost. We were going down to Plymouth from Boston to spend the weekend at Rob’s house on the lakes and my bathing suit was in my lost luggage. So when Rob picked Dallas and I up at the train stop he took us to a small mall. The only store that still had bathing suits in stock was H&M. I was under heavy pressure to just pick something to wear.. talk about stress! Trying to find the one that makes you look the least like an elephant while two guys are pacing the mall halls wanting to go buy beer and get to the lake! I’ll probably never wear that suit again.. it doesn’t even count.
The last REAL time I bought a bathing suit was with Jess and Julie. We were prepping for a trip to Cape Cod and hit up Macy’s. Macy’s and Marshall Field’s, where I got the suit last night, both have a pretty huge selection of bathing suits. My strategy is to try .. like.. EVERYTHING on.. because something HAS to look halfway decent eventually, right?
what, no photos of you trying on said suits?
That’s SO funny. That’s MY suit that you bought. Except, mine is now a “mami” version and the color is a bit different. But it’s a halter with the ties on the waist, etc.

is yours a tankini though?
Ugh. My own personal definition of hell. Congrats on finding one.
yes, it’s two piece but a tank on top. that’s why i said “mami” style. to cover up this body – blech. it’s one thing to lay out- that i’d get a bikini for. but it’s a whole nother thing to be standing up, sitting down, lifting riley up, sitting back down, up again, move over here, now back over there, grab that ball, sit back down, etc… so with my suit i’m more comfortable that’s for sure.
yeh.. i see your point. is that quicksilver one? i dont do well with tankinis.. the ones i’ve tried on .. t he top ends above my stomach bulge and the bottoms start right below it. not a good look.
I want to see some pictures too!
my top is just long enough that it touches the bottoms, so from afar it looks like a one piece. but i know what you mean, that’s why i’ve never liked them either.
