I noticed yesterday that they were putting in a lot of supports for Trump Tower that are not the caisson style. In the top 3 photos you’ll see they’re the.. uh.. bent metal style.
Also, I was wondering what these green things in the bottom two photos are. They were brought in on a flat-bed semi. Then they hooked them with a big line and moved them to another part of the site.

The top photos are sheet piles. They are driven into the ground and retain soil that is at a higher elevation to allow construction at the lower elevation.
Both the green and the gray bars in the second to last photo are steel rebar that are used to reinforce concrete. The green is epoxy coated rebar and is used in exterior conditions where de-icing salts are used. The coating protects the steel from corosion.
The bends at the end of the rebar are actually refered to as hooks. Depending on the bar size, spacing, concrete strength, etc, a rebar has a certain length that is required to develope the design strength. When there isn’t enough concrete to provide this length, then the bars are hooked. Basically it is to prevent them from pulling out.
