CYA: Do Not Use Pillows In Beds

I understand where they’re going with this warning, but it still struck me as an odd thing to print on pillow packaging. Like who isn’t going to remove the plastic bag the pillow was shipped in before using it? I guess they have to protect themselves from stupid people.

I never really go out after work in the area that I work in so last night Aaron, Scott and I went to a couple River North/Loop spots to have drinks and see what they were like. Here’s where we were and what I thought of each place:

Mother Hubbards – Sporty, old-school, alright food, seemed chill, but the bartenders were obnox.

Coogan’s - Nice place, had a new wood smell, Irish, big, wasn’t feeling the vibe.

Elephant & Castle – Really good food, British, brightly lit up bar, half restaurant and half bar, didn’t seem to be a lot of space to gather.

What are your favorite Loop/River North after-work bars?

Josh & Tweeny have a samoyed named Salt. They think he’s about 12 years old but aren’t exactly sure because they got him as an older dog, not a puppy. He’s so beautiful and is the nicest dog ever except when you crowd him and he starts growling and you think he’s thinking about biting you and you try to smile and not make a scared face and Dallas takes your photo. Not that that actually happened or anything.

After the game, Josh, Tweeny & Salt crashed over. The next day they were off to Minnesota to go to the Mall of America and continue on their journey to the West Coast.

Josh and Tweeny, whose wedding we just went to, are moving from Boston to Santa Monica. Last night they stopped over in Chicago and we went to the Chicago Bulls vs. Washington Wizards playoff game at the United Center. Having both grown up in the DC area, Josh and Tweeny are big Wizards fans, so it made it more interesting to watch the game. But this being only the second basketball game I’ve been to, and being that it was the playoffs.. it was pretty exciting anyway. The Bulls beat the Wizards 113-103. I think someone owes me some free website hosting! haha

I’ve never eaten at the Pizza Hut near the Division Blue Line station, but I always admire the painted windows as I walk by. They’ve always got their specials and holiday greetings in both English and Spanish and they always look like they’re painted on the windows, old-school style.

Pizza Hut doesn’t let me forget Mother’s Day is coming up and now I’m not letting you forget.
