On Saturday my parents were in town. After a long walk around Wicker Park and Bucktown, we had dinner at Adobo Grill, which I’d been meaning to try for quite a while. The menu is half in Spanish, which can be intimidating (as my mom found out) but our waiter was really nice and patient and took the time to explain a lot of things. My dad tried Negra Modelo for the first time and I had Pacifico, a beer I drank often when I lived in San Diego.

One of the best parts of the dinner was the appetizer, Guacamole con Totopos. I don’t have a photo of it, but they make it tableside. It was fun and tasted great. Actually, our entire meal was really good. .. including the dessert we shared – a crispy plantain banana split-like creation.

  1. I see you guys have good taste in Mexican beers! I learned years ago on vacation in Puerto Vallarta that “only tourists drink Corona” and that the Mexicans stick to Pacifico. It is a lot better than Corona and that’s what I stick to at the bars and on the beach down there. But I like to drink Negra Modelo with dinner…
