Crack House No More?

Crack House

Crack House
East Ukrainian Village, Chicago

The building in my neighborhood that I always call “the crack house” is all boarded up now. Either this is bad because it means the building has deteriorated even more, or it’s good because it means that it’s now empty and has the potential to be converted into something else. Given the burst development in my neighborhood lately, I’ll go with the latter.

I bet good and better use is to be made of this building or property if they knock the old crack house down.

I was thinking of you this past weekend you Wisconsinite Rachelle. The University of Wisconsin Milwaukee won two basketball games in the NCAA Championship Tournament. Somewhere in that city, forgotten and now ignored, old Potsie Webber once the school’s most famous student must be smiling!

It seems like your whole neighborhood is going through a gentrification process.

The UWM Panthers are the Cinderella team this year. Some people think they even have a chance to knock of Illinois on Thursday. It’s basically a home game for Illinois, playing at the United Center. (Even though Milwaukee is probably closer than Champaign)

Go Panthers! As that New York boy turned Milwaukee-ite Al McQuire used to say. “The NCAA tournament is one game”. If the Illini cant get it done for whatever reason, UWM will advance.

Six degrees of seperation and all that stuff. Back in the early 80’s I worked with a guy who was a member of The 1982 NCAA Champion UWM Bowling Team. Fellow’s name was Don Tutino, you can look that up!

Is that building 1100 North Paulina?

    Manny Flores says:

After a long investigation, on January 7th, 2005, the Narcotic and Gang Investigation Section of the Chicago Police Department raided an SRO building at 1100 North Paulina. 14 of 16 targeted drug dealers were arrested and the remaining 2 are wanted on warrants. The 13th District Police immediately followed up with a “reverse sting”aimed at customers. 9 people were arrested - 5 for narcotics related crimes and 4 for trespassing. In addition, 1 vehicle was impounded.

This location remains under surveillance and all criminal activity will be prosecuted!
