On Saturday my parents were in town. After a long walk around Wicker Park and Bucktown, we had dinner at Adobo Grill, which I’d been meaning to try for quite a while. The menu is half in Spanish, which can be intimidating (as my mom found out) but our waiter was really nice and patient and took the time to explain a lot of things. My dad tried Negra Modelo for the first time and I had Pacifico, a beer I drank often when I lived in San Diego.

One of the best parts of the dinner was the appetizer, Guacamole con Totopos. I don’t have a photo of it, but they make it tableside. It was fun and tasted great. Actually, our entire meal was really good. .. including the dessert we shared – a crispy plantain banana split-like creation.

Beck – Guero

March 30th, 2005 · 1 Comment

beck.jpgI must pause for a moment and say that I’ve been listening to the new Beck album, Guero, for 2 days straight and I love it. I like Beck a lot and thought that Sea Change*, his last album, was great but it’s so depressing. Guero reminds me more of Odelay Beck.. except not.

* Sea Change was the first album I purchased from the iTunes music store.
