I thought you hated Valentine’s Day.

dont you think this is the perfect demonstration of how commercial valentines day is?

  • Richard

Commercial? Only if you choose it to be. It’s still a good reminder to show someone how much you love them. I don’t have a major problem with V Day, but don’t even get me started on Sweatests Day!

yeh. i feel pretty much the same way. valentines isn’t bad, but sweetest day really doesn’t even exist to me.

    What is sweetest day?

ahhh.. weezer day.. how could i forget? btw, i tried to google “weezer day” and my own site was the first thing that came up

sweetest day seems like it had noble beginnings – a man from Cleveland organized many people in an effort to provide a small token of friendship to the underprivileged, shut ins, orphans, and homeless – but hallmark has tried to turn it into valentines day #2, celebrated in october

sweetest day is now the most absurd celebration ever. and it’s not really celebrated in much of the country, but in the midwest, it’s almost like it’s bigger than valentine’s day.

Well, I’m starting to agree with you guys about Valentine’s Day. The theme for today was to be my 30th B-day…little did I know that was nothing compared to the news I would find less than 5 mins into getting to work. I see decorations and a cake. A note that read, “Happy Birthday, Edwin. Chris is in the ICU on Life Support.” Not 5 mins later I get a call from my friend who left me the cake with the note and she told me her son died. He’s around my age too. The thought it was the flu and who knows what happened. It’s gotta be the most surreal days where it feels like it’s time to wake up from this dream. As much as I’ve been thinking about how sad not to be among 20-somethings. I was just glad to be among the living. It was weirdly bitter-sweet celebrating today. It almost didn’t feel right and not that it’s a bad thing, but I know everytime I have a birthday from now on, I’m sure they’ll be in my thoughts and prayers. All of a sudden turning 30 is pretty darn insignificant. Happy Valentine’s Day.
