Sun-Times Destruction

There’s so much going on at the Sun-Times construction site and it’s happening so fast right now. It took a long time for the top story of the building to be destroyed and now the layers are just flying off.

There was some water spraying, I assume on purpose?, and it was causing ice to build up on the side of the building, down into the pit in front of it.

The sidewalk is no longer accessible so they had to build a elevated wooden platform walkway so that pedestrians can get through on Wabash. On that platform I was taking some photographs when a construction worker asked me to take his photo in front of the “Tribune Tower”. He got out his camera (a really beat up film camera held together with electrician’s tape) and posed on his ladder. I realized that it was the Wrigley building he wanted his photograph with and I took it for him on his camera.. and on mine. I should have used some sort of flash, but I wasn’t thinking and didn’t have time.

That little walkway is something, isn’t it? I’m going there tonight to take some photos, the flourescent lights are just way too cool.

love your new camera rachell, looks cool. im looking for some chicago row houses to take pictures of for a project for work any idea where i could find some, maybe on the southside or inner city?

If you’re looking for row houses there are only a few areas in the city to find them. I know there are some in the Rogers park neighborhood as well as Uptown. On the Southside I think there is a block or two on the far South side in the Pullman neighborhood.

They dont call them “The mad men of Brandenburg” for nothing. I worked in construction for a little bit while going to college. Brandenburg is notorious for demolision.
