I have the A70 and love it. And all the things that would make it pretty much perfect to me are in the A95 which is really close to the G6 in function and ability. It's got a swivel screen, 5 mp, and full manual control. You can get lenses for it, but it doesn't have a hot-shoe. It's smaller, takes AA batteries which is way cooler than a power pack, and it's a good chunk less $$ than the G6. I think of the G6 as the camera I'd buy if I got back into seriously taking pictures and wanted to do away with my EOS 630 slr. Personally, I think the G6 is perfect except it's just too big for me. I know I wouldn't put it in my pocket when I walk out the door like I do with my A70. 2 cents for ya.

yes. thanks to everyone for the support, advice, & donations. I think I might be leaning towards the Canon G6, my only concern is its size. The benefits of it, as I see it, are that it has a ton of controls that I can learn how to use, yet has auto modes so in the beginning I don't have to. I don't have to jump into the SLR world right now, but the G6 also is expandable so that if I want to I can add on lenses and things in the future. So just trying to decide if size will be an issue. It's 3x3x4 inches. I was stressing out yesterday about some things so I've mostly not been thinking about it today... but hopefully will have an order placed for a new camera by the week's end.

I want to go to the Field Museum.

Haven't your camera fund raised enough money yet to buy a new one?
