Since I can’t switch modes on my camera without using a modified paperclip, which is very easy to lose, I’ve developed a new photography technique. I put the camera on the mode that lets you take multiple photos by holding down the button and then I hope that one of them turns out. Later on I find out the truth. I was able to manage a couple all right photos.

Mondays and Tuesdays are still free at The Field Museum so I only had to pay for the special exhibit, Jacqueline Kennedy: White House Years, that I wanted to see. I’m no Kennedy-phile, but the exhibit gave interesting insight into how Jackie presented the Kennedys, as well as America, to the world with her grace and fashionable style.

damn, they have some nice monitors there.

fyi, i do that all the time in low light situations.

i’ve done it in low light situations before my camera broke too, but I would still do a preview to make sure something turned out. It’s kind of weird to not have the preview. .. like having an old film camera where you can’t see what you took til later on.

Please, please, God let there not be a Hillary Clinton exhibit at the Field Museum anytime during my lifetime. Puh-leeze.

Could you buy little pellets to feed the lab assistants?

I want to go to the Field Museum.

Haven’t your camera fund raised enough money yet to buy a new one?

yes. thanks to everyone for the support, advice, & donations. I think I might be leaning towards the Canon G6, my only concern is its size. The benefits of it, as I see it, are that it has a ton of controls that I can learn how to use, yet has auto modes so in the beginning I don’t have to. I don’t have to jump into the SLR world right now, but the G6 also is expandable so that if I want to I can add on lenses and things in the future. So just trying to decide if size will be an issue. It’s 3×3x4 inches. I was stressing out yesterday about some things so I’ve mostly not been thinking about it today… but hopefully will have an order placed for a new camera by the week’s end.

    SLR?

I had to go here to find out what that even meant:

That last post was me. I guess someone was messing with my ‘remember me?’ info.

I have the A70 and love it. And all the things that would make it pretty much perfect to me are in the A95 which is really close to the G6 in function and ability. It’s got a swivel screen, 5 mp, and full manual control. You can get lenses for it, but it doesn’t have a hot-shoe. It’s smaller, takes AA batteries which is way cooler than a power pack, and it’s a good chunk less $$ than the G6. I think of the G6 as the camera I’d buy if I got back into seriously taking pictures and wanted to do away with my EOS 630 slr. Personally, I think the G6 is perfect except it’s just too big for me. I know I wouldn’t put it in my pocket when I walk out the door like I do with my A70. 2 cents for ya.

So, will the Canon G6 use the same cards, batteries and all your other accessories or will you have that stuff for sale! Let us know !
