These photos are for Adam, who loves Chicago-style stuffed pizza (ha!). We reheated leftovers from our Giordano’s delivery yesterday and they were just as good as the night before. It was the first time I had Giordano’s and only the second time I’ve ever had Chicago-style pizza. The first time was with Tien & Jeannette at the Taste of Chicago, but last night was the first time I really got to sit and savor it. I think I prefer New York-style for an every day kind of thing but definately like Chicago-style for a once in a while change of pace.

If you haven’t done it already, go here to vote for Adam’s site, Slice NY, as best food blog.

After Christmas morning and lunch at my brother’s, Josh came and got me and I went to their house for dinner and a gift exchange. I hadn’t seen Riley since her baptism and while she’s still tiny, she looked a lot bigger than last time!

On Friday morning my dad came down and picked me up and we spent Christmas Eve at my brother’s family’s house. We opened gifts from each other and had a nice dinner. We spent a lot of time tracking Santa on Norad’s site and when it said that he was in Maine we forced my nieces into bed for the night. The next morning Santa had left gifts under the tree and in all the stockings.

One other good thing – the Packers beat Minnesota to get their third consecutive NFC North Division crown. With 4 game-winning field goals this season, tell me why Longwell wasn’t picked for the probowl.

Stephanie made gifts for her parents and for me that were boxes wrapped in paper with a note on them. Here she is reading the note on one (184kb, .mov).

Peanut Butter Balls

December 24th, 2004 · 6 Comments

When I was younger my family would always make a TON of Christmas candy every year that we would eat throughout the holiday season, give as gifts, and bring to holiday parties. When I lived in California and when I lived in New York my friends and coworkers would always anxiously await the Christmas tin of homemade candy. (Yesterday I actually got an IM from a coworker in our NY office reminiscing about the annual delivery.)

When I moved out of my parents’ house I made a few holiday treats every year, carrying on the tradition. But for the last few years I haven’t made anything because I pretty much didn’t have a kitchen to cook in, so this year, since I do, I decided to make something. .. and I was craving Peanut Butter Balls, so that’s what I made.

Here’s the secret: I didn’t use the family recipe! I wanted try peanut butter balls a new way so I looked online and found this recipe. Instead of peanut butter, graham crackers and granular sugar as the main ingredients, this recipe used peanut butter, rice krispies, and powdered sugar. Today I’m going to my brothers house and I’ll be serving these to my family. Should be scandalous!

Click the link below for the recipe.
